Hello,
Beautiful and Peaceful souls,
Hope you
all are fine. I am extremely sorry for my sudden disappearance for long. Today,
I am writing about “how to create small and minimalistic place for mindful
activity at home”. I know, you must be asking, what is mindfulness? So, let me
answer, mindfulness is the state of full awareness of where you are, what is
happening around you and what are you doing.
I have tried
to keep this space minimal yet as much functional as I could. This is a place,
where I spend my time twice a day, early morning while mediating and planning
whole day with a cup of green tea and in the evening while reading a book or doing
some other activity with a sip of my favorite drink. Though I always try to
keep myself positive all day but we all know it is very difficult to keep
yourself positive all the time. So, this place has great importance for me. Whatever
I do here, I do convincingly with positive mindset. There is no place for
negative thoughts and this really helps me to get energized, feel motivated and
remain enthusiastic.
I decorate
this place as per my mood or the season. As all of you know, it is pre-winter
season, so I have tried to create this space by keeping all necessities of this
season in mind. The attractions of my minimalistic space for mindful activity are:
-
1. Aluminum
Trunk box: I bought this from a local shop and painted it yellow using
oil paint. I always like the combination of yellow and green as it gives a feeling
of warmth, soothe and freshness. This trunk is used for the storage of books. On
the top of it, I have placed a bamboo mat followed by painting of goddess
painted by me. Since my childhood, this painting always fascinates me, but I
came to know the meaning of it only recently. This painting symbolizes the
power of feminism, materially and spiritually. A part from this, a bamboo fan having
Santhal painting on the right side and an aluminum candle and wooden incense
stick holders has been placed on the left-hand side of this painting. Instead
of burning incense stick in this holder, I use it for keeping incense cone for
meditation, match box, and extra candles as an emergency measure for power
failures. In front of this painting, I have kept ceramic aroma diffuser with
Nature’s Absolutes essential oil and a coaster. Lastly, a dairy for daily
planning and the book which I am currently reading is always kept on this trunk
box along with a fountain pen.
2. Wooden
sitting chair: On the right side of trunk box, I have placed a
sitting chair which we call it as “pirha” in hindi with cushion for back
support. This has been bought from wooden market located in Saharanpur (U.P). Since
I am a core Indian by nature, so, I always cherish to decorate my home with
traditional Indian goods that unfortunately have been vanished from Indian
houses in today’s fast life. Using such things at home, really reminds us of our
childhood days and give us a sense of peacefulness similar to what we feel listening
to and watching old songs and movies. It reminds us about clean water, clean
air, greenery and zero noise on the roads. Friends, we have a lot of facilities
in India now, but we should definitely work to improve our environment for our
future generations. I am really happy to recall my childhood, in the same way,
we should contribute to our environment in such a way that our coming
generations would also have the same feeling about their childhood.
3. Broken
steel water bucket: On the right-hand side of wooden sitting chair, I have
placed a used water steel bucket which started leaking after long use. I have
painted this bucket yellow and decorated it using a jute rope. Now, I am able
to use it to keep small household articles as well as a plant stand.
4. Bamboo
basket: On the left-hand side of trunk, I have placed a bamboo
basket to which I have added a warm throw to be used whenever is needed. This
has been bought from Connaught Place, New Delhi.
5. Jute
rug: This has been bought from amazon to give the warmth
to feet. It is really well braided with jute yarn and looks classy. I have placed
another cushion on it which can be used for sitting purpose.
6. Indoor
plants: Indoor plants really made this space so vibrant. I
have kept arrow head (Syngonium) plant on the right side of painting on trunk
box and Chinese evergreen (Aglonema) in ceramic pot on steel bucket. On the
left side of trunk, near bamboo basket, snake plant (Sansevaria) has been
placed. I am really obsessed with plants; they are not only used for decoration
but are great air purifier and definitely add vitality to any space. In my personal
experience, whenever, I enter a room decorated with indoor plants, after a tired
day, they really give us a welcome feeling. They also make us feel of fresh and
lively.
I have tried my level best to avoid any useless fancy things and kept only those things which can be of any use.
Hope you all love it.
Take care all of you.
Always uplift yourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually
